I have read that Gordy was a real fan of documenting what the groups did early on in "home movies". After the first few Motown Reviews they kept Jamerson and the other Funk Brothers off the road and in the studio. Hopefully one day he will release more of the stuff that is in his archives.
I have heard talk on The Bottom Line (TBL) about a live show that had been on TV but I did not see it. I have seen snips of it from time to time (Docu's on Marvin Gaye etc.) on MTV and VH-1 but never for a whole song much less a whole show. As the 60's Mototwn is becoming more of a popular historical issue due to all the airplay on the Oldies radio stations maybe we will see more stuff come out
What other musicians did or did not do is up to people who research such things, get first hand accounts from the actual participants and write books/articles/documentaries on those matters. I have my beliefs and so do you but, I do not wish to see this forum become "get so-and-so" discussion and hope you and the other visitors will honor that on this board. My whole focus has been to show positive evidence of the history of Jamerson's role in Motown Detroit and I have left it up to others to filter out descrepancies in the story. I look forward to hearing from many in the bass world on this forum and I want to give them the repect that they deserve. The bottom line here is I was not there and neither were you. We have not talked to surviving withnesses to the events and hopefully this forum will give them a chance to be heard. This is a pubic board and while I have no control over what a visitor writes, I do have a sincere desire to "Keep It Clean & Fun". If these desires are not met, I would have to reconsider the idea of having a discussion group at all.
