Hi Ed,
Getting players from the web is tricky since the WWW is a global thing and most people would not like to commute on a global level to play in a band. What you have to do is stress where you are and hope someone in your area picks up on your quest. I would try newsgroups and newsletters like the bottom line. I would list (in order of importance) where, what kinds of music and what special requirements you might have for the prospective new player.

PS let us know how this works out for you.
Hi, I`m not sure whether anyone can help me, but our band is desperately looking for a bass player to complete the line up. I thought I`d try the internet to help me, but I don`t really know where to start looking. Are there any web pages like the classified ads in magazines? Or do you know any other ways of finding a bass player ? If so then please E-mail me back (ling0@tinyworld.co.uk), or alternatively if you are about 18-21 yrs old and live in the Ipswich area then you could get back to me if you are interested in playing bass for us. Cheers!
