Hi, Firstly, congrats to Bob, the site is great!!

I am 17, and a dedicated Jamerson fan. He has influenced my playing a great deal (along with Jaco and various other session players), and I have been intrigued with this whole whol played what argument. I personally think it was Jamerson on all those tracks, by the way.

Today I came across something interesting. i recieved a Chuck Rainey video for christmas, and I was interested in his right hand technique. He uses one finger as well, but in an odd way. He uses the nail like i pick, flicking the finger back and forth on the string, not just one stroke like two finger players. Now, we know Jamerson used one finger as well. I dont think he employed this particular technique (perhaps someone can clear that up for me??), but it is certainly another possibility in regards to the "picked" sound of the bass notes (that some say). When Chuck strokes the string, both ways, he hits it with the nail, at least a bit. Now we also know that Chuck was a Jamerson fan, so maybe he got this technique from James.

I thought maybe it was worth thinking about.
